Shivani Bhalla started Ewaso Lions in 2007 with a focused mission: “Ewaso Lions conserves Kenya’s lions and other large carnivores by promoting coexistence between people and wildlife. Ewaso Lions uses sound science, education, and capacity building to foster support for conservation and help guide the long-term conservation management of lions in community areas.” She is not just an accomplished conservation scientist. Shivani’s infectious enthusiasm draws a wide variety of people into the Ewaso Lions family – engaging the local Samburu communities, wildlife officials and the owners and managers of nearby safari lodges.
